JESUS AT THE GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE

You might wonder why your pastor came up with this devotion. Well much of my childhood was spent around a Catholic church which was just down the street, about a furlong. Every morning the 5AM bell would wake me up. It was a magnificent church built many many years ago. Sometimes I would just enter the church to see the beauty of its grandeur and was fascinated by the pictures on the wall. I noted that some of the pictures were placed in a series at every pillar with roman numerals as different stations. I walked the path from roman numeral one to the end and wanted to explore them. So this lent that will be my study and I will share it with you. At the beginning of any journey we have to start at a point or a station, especially if it is the home town station it will be very familiar. If it is a small town the rail station may have only one platform or a bus station a place for only few buses to board. You would know exactly what time to leave and be aware of the circumstances in that area. It is very astounding to note the in the life of our savior’s final journey the first place starts in a garden called Gethsemane – a place of prayer, a place of extreme grief, a place of unnatural happening, a place of solitude, a place of dejection and despondency just to name a few,. It was a very familiar place and frequently visited by Jesus. Let’s follow it closely in the next few days to come.

Pray: Lord of the universe, it was your practice and discipline to visit your sacred place to be with your Father in heaven, even in our lent let that be our focus to spend more time in prayer. AMEN
